Metro-North Adds Extra Trains for Giants Parade

Going to the ticker-tape parade in Manhattan?

Metro-North Railroad is adding extra trains for commuters that want to go to New York City to attend today's ticker tape parade for the Giants.

The parade is scheduled to take place in the “Canyon of the Heroes,” a section of Broadway in southern Manhattan, at 11 a.m. Oxford fans who wish to attend the parade can take the train line to Bridgeport and transfer there to New York.

For a Waterbury Branch customer to catch the extra train, that person would have to get to Bridgeport to catch it when it stops at 9:08 a.m., said Marjorie Anders, MTA spokesman.

Anders said off-peak prices will apply on the extra trains. Customers should purchase round-trip tickets in advance at ticket vending machines or ticket offices and chose the single round trip MetroCard option for travel to Lower Manhattan by New York City Subway, according to a press release.

From Grand Central take the Lexington Avenue No. 4, 5 or 6 to Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall.  (The Wall Street station will be closed during the parade.)

Customers are asked to please refrain from bringing alcohol on trains.

Inbound, to the parade:

New Haven Line: 8:47 a.m. express from New Haven, stopping at Milford, Stratford, Bridgeport, Stamford, Harlem-125th St., and arriving at Grand Central Terminal at 10:20 a.m.

Outbound, after the parade:
