A local teenager flipped a car he was driving when he fell asleep behind the wheel near his home this weekend, according to a police report on file at the Oxford Resident Trooper’s Office.

The responded with police to Chestnut Tree Hill Road about 2:20 Sunday morning where they found Deven Diaz, 19, of 38 Chestnut Tree Hill Road, next to the car that had tipped on its passenger side, the report states. Diaz was issued an infraction for failure to drive right. The car was totaled in the accident, and the investigation is closed, police said.

Editor's Note: A previous version of this article said that Diaz had to be extricated from the vehicle by firefighters. However, he was out of the car before firefighters arrived. It was a misunderstanding on our part, and we apologize for the error or any confusion it may have caused. - Paul Singley
