Oxford Man Safe After Police Intervene Following Threat
Man who threatened to harm himself sent for psychiatric evaluation.
A 55-year-old Oxford man is safe and getting help after the Oxford Resident Trooper’s Office and Shelton Police intervened when he threatened to harm himself Tuesday, police said.
Local troopers received a call from the Shelton Police Department after the man’s co-workers in Shelton became concerned because the man threatened to hurt himself, Oxford Resident Trooper Sgt. Dan Semosky said. The man said he was going to his home in Oxford, co-workers told police.
Resident Trooper First Class Dave Hare searched town and located a car that matched a description of the man’s vehicle at the Mobil Gas Station at 1 Oxford Road on the Oxford/Seymour line. Hare discovered it was the same man and calmly talked to him, Semosky said. Hare convinced the man to get help. The man was sent for a psychiatric evaluation at Griffin Hospital in Derby.
Police did not release the man’s name to protect his identity.

Talk about good police work! Great to see our officers heading off a potential crisis. No one gets hurt and the man gets help. This is a real win and show s what happens when everything works. My respect for our troopers continues to grow.

Actually the first and most appreciation should be shown to his coworkers for caring enough to alert the police. Some folks would choose to not get involved. Thank you to them for possibly saving this persons life. Now he can hopefully get some help.
