Autumn of Fall is about the leaves falling to the ground and is also an Opportunity for you to Release, Reorder, & Make Changes in your life!

Is the arrival of Fall Getting You Down?

The winds of change are here, as the slight cool nip in the air has arrived, heralding the arrival of shorter days and longer nights. Even the squirrels sense the change in the season and are beginning the business of storing nuts for the winter. 

Have you have begun looking for your warmer sweaters, scarves, jackets and jeans in preparation for the colder days ahead? 

Are you feeling a bit more serious and less carefree than in the summer months?

Fall, according to Oriental medicine is associated with the Metal element, which governs order, communication, the mind, setting limits and protecting boundaries. It can be a great time of organizing your life for the winter season ahead and coming more inside your body and mind to reflect upon your life.

The Lung and Large Intestine are the internal organs related to Fall and the Metal Element. They both have the associations of ‘letting go’ of end products or waste. It is a good season to plan a colon cleanse with vegetable juicing or green smoothies, breathing in ginger steam inhalation to clean out and open up the sinuses and lungs, as well as time for facials to cleanse and nourish the skin.

Psychologically speaking, this phase is also about ‘letting go’ of grief, old attachments, and emotional baggage. 

For busy moms and dads, and for those of you who have reached the mid-point of your life, this time of year can bring up feelings of loss. Shifting relationships, aging, loss of parents or spouse, kids growing older, leaving for college, financial or health issues, can all bring up the ideas of lost youth, mortality and lead to mid-life crises.

As the leaves start to shrivel up, turn red, orange, yellow, and brown, before falling to the ground and beginning their brilliant deaths, we, too, can take stock of our lives.

Examining your values, character flaws, intentions, mistakes, and milestones is an important process. 

Before you make new plans for your life, it might make sense to first determine what you need to release in order to move your health, relationships, and life to the next level. 

This process of self-reflection can be difficult, emotionally depressing, and sometimes downright scary, especially if you have never been through this process or have not done any excavating in awhile. 

While this can be challenging, the other side is one of Liberation and Exhilaration! It can be a time to shine a light on what no longer works, and shed the vestiges of old approaches and the old you. It can be a wonderful opportunity to give yourself over willingly to the process of inquiry, curiosity and exploration of what this might mean for you.

If this is a difficult time of year for you, it might be a good idea to seek out help from your local Energy Medicine Practitioner for a balancing and healing session! The relaxing, releasing, and melting away of stress, sadness, and stagnation can revitalize your body & mind! 

Autumn can be an opportunity to harvest all that you have become this past year. Perhaps begin with gratitude and appreciate the skills, relationships and experiences that have brought you to this place and time right now. These will be the things that will sustain you as things continue to shift and change.

In the golden haze and light of fall, open up your eyes to the tapestry of colors around you.  Allow yourself to begin to see the distinct beauty and possibility in the Autumn’s winds of change, so that you might imagine the bounty of things to come!

Thanks Myra. Yes the written instructions are helpful, but following along with the video as you learn the exercise really simplifies the whole process! My clients and YouTube followers also appreciate it and feel I am right there with them! Thanks for taking the time to comment!
