Oxford Girl Scouts make blankets for World Thinking Day town project!

Oxford Girl Scouts make blankets for World Thinking Day town project!

Oxford Girl Scouts participated in a town-wide Thinking Day event on Friday,
February 22nd. We gathered at OCS to make 20 blankets to donate to Kids In Crisis and learn about various cultures around the world.

Each year on February 22, World Thinking Day, girls honor their sister Girl Guides and Girl Scouts by taking time to give thanks for their international friendships
and remember that Girl Scouts of the USA is part of a global community—one of
nearly 150 countries that are members of the World Association of Girl Guides
and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).
This year's theme, girls' worldwide say "together we can save children's lives," gives girls a chance to take action on issues affecting children's lives in other countries.

The event was a great experience for all the girls and parents who participated!

Below is a letter we received from Kids In Crisis about our blanket donation!

Dear Oxford Girl Scouts,

Find out what's happening in Oxfordwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Thank you for the beautiful fleece blankets you made for the children and teenagers staying at Kids in Crisis.

When we saw the all the bags, we couldn’t believe that you made 20 of them or how adorable they all are.

As you may know, kids of all ages stay here – young kids all the way up to teenagers – so the blankets are just perfect because there are so many to choose from there will be something for everyone! They are so bright and colorful too that they’ll make all of the kids smile!!

When kids come here they usually stay for at least a month, which means they get their own room while they’re here. So what’s best of all about your gift is that now every child who comes here can also get a brand new blanket to put on their bed and cuddle up with, and they can even take it with them when they leave so they can remember their friends at Kids in Crisis and at the Girl Scouts!

Thank you so much for always thinking of Kids in Crisis and the kids who stay here. Everything you do for us puts a smile on a child’s face who’s staying here – and that’s pretty cool!! Thank you for making that happen!

Sincerely,

Kristen and all the kids at KIC!
