CT Kids Respond to Newtown Shooting

60 Children from CT Interviewed About Hopes for Their Future;

Demanding Stricter Gun Laws and Promise to MARCH FOR CHANGE

WESTON, CT— February 1, 2013   March For Change(http://www.marchforchange.org} a bi-partisan, grassroots effort supporting the legislative agenda of Connecticut Against Gun Violence,a Connecticut based non-profit organization dedicated to making Connecticut communities, families, and children safe from gun violence through a common sense approach to public education and legislative advocacy, announced today the release of a robust public service campaign in support of the February 14th MARCH FOR CHANGE in Hartford, CT demanding safer, rational gun laws.  Produced by Johnny Boston, Christine Fulton and Melissa Chesman of Raw Media Network, a production company with offices in New York and Weston, CT, these short films and 30- and 60-second spots give voice to the kids of Connecticut, who are struggling to come to terms with the reality of gun violence in our communities.

“I’m marching on February 14th to demand a better future for my children. I wanted our public service campaign to project the possibility for change and the hope for a safer future.  Everyone involved in the project has school-aged children, all of whom are also trying to make sense of the tragedy in nearby Newtown; these kids are talking amongst themselves and questioning grown ups about gun violence in our country.  We decided to invite 60 kids into the conversation and immediately the PSA took shape,” said Johnny Boston, the campaign’s producer and director.

“We had a limited amount of time to finish the PSA,” said producer Christine Fulton. “Usually when there is an open call, people say they will participate, but there are always a lot of ‘no-shows.’  For this project, not only did everyone show, they brought other people’s kids and invited entire other families, as well; it made for a tighter schedule and longer shoot, but the passion people feel is palpable and the response inspiring.”

Over 60 children from Fairfield County shared their feelings about the tragedy in Newtown and their hopes and dreams for the future.  Originally two 30- and 60-seconds spot were produced, however Raw Media Network realized these wouldn’t be enough o honor the thoughtful voices of the children.  Subsequently, two longer versions of the PSA were also created, including CONNECTICUT KIDS RESPOND, which made its World Premiere at the special screening of “Living for 32” at the Christ & Holy Trinity Church in Westport on January 27th.   Actor Frank Whaley provided the resonant voiceover in the six minute short film.

All of the PSAs can currently be seen on Raw Media Network’s YouTube channel or on their FB page:

Great to see IMTI leading the way into the solar future! I went to that school specifically toRead More become a solar electrician. It was before they had a solar program, at the time it was the E-2 electrical course. I see America has a chance to build prosperity again if we will be forward-looking about our manufacturing and energy strategies. My company, Made In USA Solar LLC, aims to contribute to that in a small way, doing what we can by only installing materials made in USA. Congrats to IMTI on their ambitious solar plans!

Archie, Your wrong. Constitutions were written for a reason not to determine whether it's a livingRead More document or not. Politicians and or Anti-Americans only believe that the constitutions are a dead document. They are excuses to put forth an agenda. Without Constitutions this country would be chaos and we wouldn't have the freedoms we have today. Only in your eye's does the words not apply because you think government can prevent and do anything they want. It's the people that rule, NOT THE POLITICIANS!

That is looking at the Constitution as a dead piece of paper instead of a living document. LivingRead More Constitutions read as if they were written yesterday not over 250 years ago. Is the Constitution living or dead. When common sense and ordinary circumstances show that the words of the Constitution no longer apply then the document is dead. That is what occurs when weapons/arms have become so powerful and dangerous that having them available in the numbers you have in this country is tantamount to ultimate murder and chaos. This is definitely not what the Framers had in mind as shown by the words prefacing the 2nd amendment referring to a militia.
