that makes the best overall presentation, indicating the studio is
following the Fred Astaire guidelines. That training makes a difference
on the floor.”
The Southbury Fred Astaire Dance Studio competed against 16 other
studios, earning points as a group rather than individual competitors.
Manger Paulo Jorge said, “The award shows the spirit of the Southbury
community. People at the event were very impressed by the team.
We’re so proud.”
The extravaganza was a special event but both men agree that the Friday
night dance parties, where students regularly practice what they’ve
learned in private and group lessons, are a great deal of fun.
“Dance is a sport that can be an alternative to golf or tennis.” Mr. Jorge
explained. “One of our students told me that she’s having fun learning
dance routines that she can perform despite medical issues. Dancing is
for anyone.”
Mr. Lange expressed his gratitude to students for participating. “We had
so much fun preparing for the formation dance. The classes built team
spirit and we see friendships among our students grow stronger.”
The studio is now offering a new class, ballet fitness, at $10 per student
with a new dance teacher, Ronald Bartoli.
“This class combines exercise, body control, balance, stretching, and
flexibility. Everyone is welcome, not just our current students and it’s
not necessary to have any previous ballet experience.”
