Sacred Heart Church Provided Notable Donation to St. Vincent DePaul Mission in Waterbury

SACRED HEART CHURCH OF SOUTHBURY recently presented a $10,000 donation to St. Vincent de Paul Mission in Waterbury. “This donation,” explained Father Joe Donnelly, Sacred Heart Church Pastor, “is being made from a bequest by a long-time parishioner, the late  Francis Brewer. Mr. Brewer left a substantial bequest to Sacred Heart Parish ‘to be used for its work with needy families in their Outreach Programs. 

The St. Vincent de Paul Mission of Greater Waterbury is a branch of Catholic Charities of the archdiocese of Hartford that has been serving the poor of the Waterbury Region for over 35 years. The Mission consists of the largest homeless shelter in the state of Connecticut with 126 beds; a soup kitchen that makes 400 meals a day distributing 300 at their soup kitchen and 100 for the shelter each night and the food pantry gives out 250 bags of groceries per week; a thrift store; supervised living and programs for the mentally ill; and affordable housing in Waterbury.
