Oxford Babe Ruth Goes Pink for a Cause

Team is involved in Griffin Hospital's Valley Goes Pink campaign.

 

For the month of October, the Oxford 13-to-15-year-old Babe Ruth fall baseball team is going pink in to raise awareness of breast cancer.

"I have to give full credit to the players who were the ones who pushed to do this and are fully behind it," said Coach Dave Yish. "Once they saw the commitment, the parents have been terrific and have jumped in as well."

He said the team is joining Griffin Hospital’s “Valley Goes Pink” campaign and will be collecting at our next home game on Saturday, Oct. 6, at Posypanko Park against Danbury at 1 p.m.

The team will complete the weekend in pink away at Danbury on Sunday. The team's first “Pink game” was Sunday and the boys won 6-3 to improve 7-3 overall.

"In addition to making an effort to help out in our community, we are playing some great baseball," Yish said.
