Oxford PTO Collecting Goods for Sandy Hook Students

PTO is collecting through the end of the week.

The students of Sandy Hook Elementary had to leave behind all their belongings when they had to leave so quickly and will not be returning to get them.

Many of us have been wondering how we can help the children who went through this. The Oxford PTO will be collecting coats, hats, gloves, mitten, scarves and lunch-boxes. The PTO was going to collect backpacks and other school supplies, but the Oxford High School student-run nonprofit organization, Backpack Basics, has graciously volunteered to donate those supplies, which they have collected for underprivledged children over the past two years. So, the PTO decided to ask for lunch boxes instead of school supplies and backpacks.

A collection box will be at each school in Oxford until the end this week. If you would like to help in this effort but don’t want to send the items in with your children, Amy Cote will be at the Oxford Grange Hall on Route 67 next to Oxford Center School to collect donations Wednesday evening from 5-8 p.m.
