Rabid Fox Bites Dogs in Oxford
Animal control officials urge people to make sure their pets are up-to-date with rabies shots.
A fox that bit two dogs during a fight on Friday in Oxford has tested positive for rabies.
The wild animal was located near Chestnut Tree Hill Road and Hollis road after it had a fight with the two dogs, Oxford officials said in a news release. One of the dog's owners is being treated with rabies shots.
Oxford Animal Control Officer Sandy Merry urges pet owners to make sure their pets are up-to-date with rabies vaccinations. If anyone notices a sick animal, please call the animal control office at 203-881-3653 or the police at 203-888-4353.
