New Brewery Opens in Oxford

Unique brews from around the world to be featured

First selectman George R. Temple was on hand for a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new brewery, called OEC, for Ordinem Ecentrici Coctores or "Order of Eccentric Boilers." The brewery opened at 7 Fox Hollow Road, alongside Beverage United International Inc. headquarters facility here.

The new brewery was opened by Matthias Neidhart who is an, importer of delicious beers from Europe, Africa and Asia. The new tasting room features six taps of OEC beers, United imports, and at least one of the ultra-rare Zymatore barrel aged special brews. 

The tasting room will be open every Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. to fill growlers and also on Saturdays from noon to 6 p.m. they will feature OEC brews and unique brews from around the world. Every Saturday a differently themed food truck ‘’ will be at the brewery to serve fresh local food.

Neidhart said they are anxious to turn their tasting room into a “Farmstead Pub,’’ that will attract beer lovers from all over New England and New York City.

First Selectman Temple said Matthias and his wife Stephanie attended.

“It is a fun afternoon in a beautiful surrounding,’’ Temple said of the brewery. “Judging by the size of the crowd Saturday, I am sure it will be an enjoyable experience for years to come.
