What's Happening This Weekend?

This weekend features music and events for Valentine's outings.

We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check our picks for the activities to hit and new bars, restaurants and shops to explore.


1.  presented by Stray Kats Theatre Company
Where/When: The Alexandria Room at , Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Why Go: This staged reading will include a Q&A time with the actors, as well as coffee and Andrea's Bakeshop treats.
Pricing: $25

2. Valentine's Prix-Fixe Dinner 
Where/When: , Oxford, Feb. 12, 13 and 14
Why Go: Three courses, a glass of sparkling wine and chocolate truffles are included. Among other choices, the special Valentine's menu offers an appealing Grilled Filet Mignon with Seafood Stuffed Shrimp, Asparagus and Red Pepper Risotto with a Burgundy Demi-Glace, as well as Mocha Pot de Crème.
Pricing: $45.95 for the prix-fixe menu; regular menu also available.

Where/When: Sandy Hook, Feb. 14 open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Why Go: Order a gourmet lunch by Feb. 12 and enjoy it with a wine tasting in the vineyard's quaint tasting room. Browse the store filled with local artisan foods, crafts and other products.
Pricing: Wine tasting, $7; Lunch, $15.

4. Blue Oyster Cult
Where/When: Ridgefield Playhouse, Friday at 8 p.m.
Why Go: Hear this classic rock band from the 1970s and 1980s play favorites such as "Burnin' for You."
Pricing: Tickets are $60 - $65.

5. The 19th Annual Western New England Home Show
Where/When: WestConn's O'Neill Center, Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Why Go: See a variety of home products and new technologies for inside and outside your home, including pools, security systems, contractors, kitchen and bath remodelers and many others.
Pricing: $6 Adults, $5 Seniors, Free for kids 12 and under. Bring a non-perishable food item and receive a $1.00 discount on your adult admission.

 Where/When: , Saturday, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Why Go: Listen to acoustic music while sipping on a latte.
Pricing: Free, except for the cost of your beverage and treats.
