OXFORD – Famed singer/songwriter A. J. Croce, the son of legendary singer Jim Croce will be in town on Oct. 20 to perform a benefit concert to raise money to build a new animal shelter in town.
Croce will perform a medley of songs during the concert that will take place from 7 to 9 p.m . at Oxford High School, 61 Quaker Farms Road, Oxford, Ct. 06478. Ticket price is $35 for general admission. Tickets can be purchased from officials of the Oxford Animal Shelter and in the Oxford Town Clerk’s Office at Town Hall.
According to Croce’s biography, his father Jim was killed in a plane crash in 1973 and soon after his father’s death he went blind and began playing the piano. After numerous surgeries he regained his sight at age 10 and he began performing at the age of 12 and currently has two record labels and has recorded 7 albums.. He has performed on the Tonight Show, the Late Show with David Letterman, Conan O’Brien, Austin City Limits, Good Morning America and shows like CBS This Morning and The Today Show.
Croce has performed with many famous musicians including Willie Nelson, who said of Croce, “A.J. Croce has wisdom beyond his years. With his music, he represents his generation with a profound sense of honesty in his lyrics and quality in his delivery. The future of entertainment is safe in his hands.’’
