I lost power last Saturday at 1:20pm...I am over by Kettletown state park...guess it doesn't pay to be on the outskirts of town

Why thank you! Here's the final tally, per our good (albeit thirsty) friend, Mr. Generac: Lost power: 10/29/11 13:54:15 Power restored: 11/4/11 11:52:06

Day 7. No power here on Old Country Rd. This is beyond the pale.
Dick Kaminski November 05, 2011 at 12:12 AM
Power now on for Davis, Deer Hollow, and far west side of Hogsback.
Chris Old Country Rd November 05, 2011 at 12:17 AM
Dick - did it just come on? Or earlier today?
Mary Beth Nelsen November 05, 2011 at 02:39 AM
Rye 34 Riverside area back on as of tonight.
Dick Kaminski November 05, 2011 at 11:20 AM
Chris Old Country Road - Sorry, just read your post. We had gone out to get something to eat, power was on upon return. I would guess somewhere between 6-8:00.

Day 8 - No power on Newgate Road...anyone seen or heard anything?
MyGoodPeople November 05, 2011 at 01:49 PM
Still no power in Hurley Farms Industrial Park. All the management including Jeff Butler from CLP should be fired for their incompetence in the handling of this power outage. we were warned way in advance, yet they did nothing to prepare.
Bill L. November 05, 2011 at 02:10 PM
Day 8. No power on Moose Hill Rd. Got my CL-P bill yesterday. I want to pay it in pennies, dumped on the front lawn of CL+P's CEO's house. Next to his "broken generator".
Rich Gee November 05, 2011 at 04:29 PM
Rolling Hills still out. It's really fun spending $35-$40 on gas every day for my generator AND receiving a CL&P bill in the mail. Ironic to say the least. I'd like to see a disaster strategy plan from the town (and maybe from the candidates - hint, hint) which outlines what they will do to ensure this never happens again. I've live in Oxford for 20 years and in two months had severe emergencies affect my home and business. This can't happen again.
Amy Carlone Cote November 06, 2011 at 12:35 PM
Power came back to Newgate last night at around 4:00.
Rich Gee November 06, 2011 at 01:20 PM
8 AM - still no power on Rolling Hills Drive.
Susan November 06, 2011 at 02:17 PM
No power on Sarah Drive! Not even any sign of workers either. This is a street filled with infants (my 8 wk old grandson ) and toddlers as are many in Oxford. It just boggles my mind that they didn't loose power during Irene but they are out for 8 days as of now. CL&P is the most disorganized company I have ever had the displeasure of doing business with. I live in Newtown and finally got my power back on Thursday!
Anne November 06, 2011 at 03:31 PM
My daugher lives on Charter Oak Dr and still no power. The problem is the mess on Hulls Hill Rd according to the snotty person at CL&P who also told us yesterday that it would be days before they clean up that mess. I assume that area is Southbury so am concerned that Oxford may not be aware that that part of town is on a Southbury grid? Very frustrating dealing with CL&P seeing the numbers go down in Oxford overnight but still no progress for that area. Has anyone heard anything at all? Keep driving by that mess as does everyone else but seeing no progress made is downright frustrating.
Amy Carlone Cote November 06, 2011 at 07:12 PM
Hulls Hill is currently being worked on and they were working on it yesterday, workers told my husband that maybe today, so it is nice to see that something may happen in that neck of the woods.
Joanna November 06, 2011 at 10:41 PM
11/06 4:00 PM North Mark Drive finally has power (Thorson - Hull's Hill - Maple tree hill area) Hope all you folks wo power get it soon. NINE days is way too long!
Bonnie November 07, 2011 at 12:59 PM
I heard that Jeff Butler from CL&P makes $3.8 million a year. Did anyone else hear that? It's crazy if that's his annual earnings, if I screwed up at my job as much as he does I wouldn't have a job! I don't make anywhere near what he does but if I did I'd do the best job I could!!!
Tony Soprano November 07, 2011 at 01:54 PM
Bonnie, that's because he is evaluated on profit margin Not customer satisfaction. That's called corporate greed and is endemic throughout American business. It is what many in this country are protesting against, from the financial industry, utilities, across the entire spectrum. Corporations even lobby congress to ensure their gravy train never pulls into a station. The only weapon citizens have is their voting power. So choose carefully in each election whether you want Special Interests to dominate our policies or the rights of consumers.
John M. Joy November 07, 2011 at 01:59 PM
In most businesses, profit margin is tied to customer satisfaction. CL&P is a REGULATED utility company operating with a government-granted monopoly in the area they serve. Obviously his compensation was hunky-dory with the DPUC.
Hank November 07, 2011 at 05:26 PM
The dDPUC is just another of Connecticut's MANY dysfunctional (d) commisions/Departments that result from one party rule in this state for over 20 years....doesnt matter which party..its their agenda that counts. This tragic event may be the only one that met the shared sacrifice criteria in the short term. Thanks to OXC Patch for keeping us all up to date...you did make a differance!
Paul Singley November 07, 2011 at 05:34 PM
thank you!

http://www.newhavenregister.com/articles/2011/11/07/news/doc4eb7ee2bb0870890247218.txt#blogcomments Butler says he's gonna miss todays goal also. Diddnt danny boy Malloy say he wouldnt want to be in their shoes if they missed the first deadline? well, this would be deadline #2 missed... Dan? Dan? whatch goin do buddy?
Craig Zac November 07, 2011 at 09:54 PM
Right down the road from you guys and three of us were out while one house wasnt..lol everyone all around us seems to have power too..
MyGoodPeople November 07, 2011 at 11:28 PM
he actually makes 9 million
MyGoodPeople November 07, 2011 at 11:30 PM
Hurley Farms Industrial back in business as of 330pm today. 9 days, 6 nonbusiness days-that hurts!
Craig Zac November 08, 2011 at 02:21 PM
Nice huh? now imagine how many other business are in the same boat, plus the ones who are still out.. jeeze... this thing was awful all the way around. So many people got unintended vacations with no pay.. but, CL&P wont want to hear it come billing time will they?
Craig Zac November 08, 2011 at 02:33 PM
Heres the channel 3 I-team report on Butler's stint in California and now in CT. pretty interesting how they had the same problems when he ran that power company. http://www.wfsb.com/story/15979918/i-team-investigte-jeff-butler-ceo-of-clp
Craig Zac November 08, 2011 at 02:36 PM
because they are playing games with the $$$ holding the check back for 30days gives then another months interest on that $$$ . Its big business bending the rules again.. let us try and do that and they will report you to the credit bureau in a flash!
