First Selectman: 'We Are In This Together'

As of 9:18 a.m. Friday, 820 residents, or 15 percent of CL&P customers in Oxford, were still without power.

 

First Selectman George Temple issued the following in a CodeRed alert Thursday evening:

The shelter at Oxford High School, 61 Quaker Farms Road, will reopen on Friday, Nov. 2, at 6 a.m. for showers only and will close at 3 p.m. in preparation for Trick or Truck activities, which will begin at 6 p.m. and end at 8 p.m.

The three fire houses still have hoses out if you need water. Please bring your own containers.

CL&P requests that anyone who has damage to the power lines going into their house should contact CL&P directly 1-800-286-2000. CL& P is continuing to restore power and is at a slow pace, but there is major damage to the power system, and many poles must be replaced which takes time. Town officials ask  that residents be patient

“I know it has been a slow process and some people are without power, but be assured we are working very hard to get power restored to everyone and appreciate everyone’s cooperation and patience," Temple said. "We are in this together."
