Lightning, Hail Dominate Week's Forecast in Oxford

Heavy storms expected to start and end the week, with patch of sunshine in between.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for southern Connecticut and northern Fairfield County, warning residents to be weary of several heavy storms expected to roll through between Monday and Saturday this week.

According to the NWS, “scattered to numerous thunderstorms should develop Monday afternoon ahead of an approaching cold front,” with a 60 percent chance of showers and storms in Oxford Monday afternoon. “Some of these storms may produce damaging wind gusts, heavy rain, frequent lightning and hail,” especially in areas north and west of New York City, such as Connecticut.

The weather service is forecasting a brief reprieve mid-week, with the sun expected breach through the clouds Wednesday and/or Thursday before thunderstorms return for the weekend.
