No Contest Plea in Death of Oxford Man, Police Officer

A 65-year-old Bridgeport man is looking at prison time

A senior citizen who was driving a car that struck and killed a Shelton police officer who lived in Oxford will serve between two and four years in prison, according to the Valley Independent Sentinel.

Bruce Knapik, 65, pleaded no contest Wednesday in the July 3, 2010, death of Sgt. Orville Smith, 64. Smith was working a private duty job in Shelton when a pickup truck driven by Knapik hit Smith, who later died from complications of his injuries.
