Oxford Parks and Rec Wins State Award

Town is honored for its recreational activities.

The following news release was submitted to Oxford Patch by Joanne Pelton, administrative aide to First Selectman George Temple. 

The Connecticut Recreation and Parks Association honored the Oxford Parks and Recreation Department as this year’s recipient of the “REC’R OF THE YEAR” award.

Each year the award is given to one department in the state that is deserving of recognition for achievements and accomplishments in the field of Parks and Recreation in serving their town, while also promoting the benefits of the state organization.

The Oxford Parks and Recreation Department is managed by as its Director who is assisted by Colleen Lundgren. The presentation was made on Tuesday, Nov. 22, during the CRPA’s annual awards luncheon which was held in the Grand Ballroom of Mohegan Sun.

The Rec’r Award, which started out many years ago as a large wrecker truck, will be displayed in the Parks and Recreation office for a year. Each year, the department that holds the award must add one more item to it, specifically something representing their town.
