Snow on the Way for MLK Day & Tuesday

How much snow could we see to start the week of Jan. 21? Potentially hazardous travel conditions and a wind chill of -1 are noted in the National Weather Service forecast.

A hazardous weather outlook for parts of New Haven County is in effect and could result in hazardous travel conditions for today and tomorrow, Jan. 21 and 22, the National Weather Service reports:

A light snowfall event is forecast from Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning. Total snow amounts are forecast to range from one to four inches Highest across eastern Long Island and southeast Connecticut. This would result in hazardous travel conditions.

  • Today (Monday, Jan. 21, 2013): A chance of snow showers after 1 p.m. Increasing clouds, with a high near 29. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.
  • Tonight: Snow showers likely, mainly before 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 15. Calm wind becoming northwest 5 to 8 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
  • Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 24. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph.
  • Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 7. Wind chill values as low as -7. Northwest wind 11 to 13 mph.
