Our poll on the best place to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in Oxford didn't do so well. It got just 11 votes, and the at 231 Oxford Road got the most votes, with five.
Maybe people in Oxford spend their time on St. Patrick's Day at their homes - with a nice corned beef cooked to thier liking - or at events, such as the one the Rev. John Donnelly posted underneath our poll. That was for a cornred beef and cabbage dinner with green ice cream at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow at Christ Church Quaker Farms.
Or perhaps they go to neighboring towns that have more Irish restaurant and pub selections. In Naugatuck, the Old Corner Cafe is mentioned quite frequently as a popular St. Patrick's Day destination, but Duffy's Tavern beat them in a landslide on Naugatuck Patch's poll for best place to celebrate St. Patty's Day. Duffy's got 213 votes while Old Corner took 73.
