Blood Drive January 4th

A blood drive will take place from 8 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Saturday, January 4, at Great Hill Methodist Church, 225 Great Hill Rd., Seymour.

The American Red Cross encourages all those who can donate to help save lives and support Connecticut’s blood supply. Thousands of blood donations are needed every day to meet the needs of accident victims, cancer patients and children with blood disorders. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients.

A blood donor card or driver’s license, or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood.

High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.

Those wishing to make an appointment may call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org.
