PDDH TO OFFER FLU SHOT CLINICS FOR GENERAL PUBLIC
The Pomperaug Health District will offer a flu vaccination clinic at the Oxford Town Hall, 486 Oxford Road, on Thursday, November 15 from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
This clinic is for persons age 6 months and older. Four types of flu vaccine will be available at the these clinic: injectable (shot), high-dose, FluMist (nasal spray) and the intradermal vaccine. The intradermal vaccine was introduced last year. It is for persons aged 18 to 64 years. The needle is 90% smaller. The nasal spray vaccine is for healthy persons 2 to 49 years of age who are not pregnant. The high dose vaccine is for persons aged 65 and older. Participants are asked to wear loose fitting clothes with short sleeves.
The fees for the flu vaccines are as follows: $22.00 the injectable; $25.00 for the nasal spray and intradermal flu vaccines; and $35.00 for the high dose flu vaccine. The pneumococcal vaccine is $68.00. The following health insurances are accepted: Medicare (Part B); ConnectiCare; Aetna, and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. People who are covered by these medical plans must bring their cards to the clinic. Persons with other health insurance must pay with cash, check, or credit card. Please note that United Healthcare and other insurance cannot be accepted at this time. Children between the ages of 6-59 months who are uninsured or on HUSKY can receive the flu vaccine at no cost. Children aged 5–18 years who are uninsured or on HUSKY may receive the flu vaccine for $10.00. No one will be turned away because of inability to pay.
