The Naugatuck Valley is a caring community whose citizens are mindful about others’ well-being. You need to only look at the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy to see how people came together to open donation centers for the benefit of those impacted by the storm. Having grown up here and been involved with many of our community organizations, I see time and time again that the Valley is a community with a heart.
So, as we enter a holiday season full of moments with our families and friends, consider picking up extra groceries, toys or warm coats for those that are in need during this season. If you are not able to help in this way, consider volunteering your time at one of our area’s non-profit organizations. Be assured your thoughtfulness will make a difference in the life of a child or family who could use a nutritious meal or a warm coat this time of year.
In every one of our communities — Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Derby, Naugatuck, Oxford, Seymour and Shelton — there are hard-working civic and community organizations such as the United Way and Rotary Club who are working on projects to help our community’s most vulnerable families.
