8 Course Pop-Up Dinner and Silent Auction for Hurricane Sandy Relief

8 Course Pop-Up Dinner and Silent Auction for Hurricane Sandy Relief in Milford, CT

As you may know the damage caused by Hurricane Sandy was horrendous. This storm destroyed homes, businesses and changed so many lives. It is going to take a long time to repair and rebuild.

I was born and raised on the East Coast; born in Stony Brook, Long Island. I spent my entire childhood on the shores and waters of Long Island, and Connecticut. What most people don’t understand is how connected people are to these places. Growing up in Long Island I would always be fishing with my family on the Long Island Sound, and walking around the docks at Port Jefferson. After seeing the photographs from the damage done by Sandy to the shores of Long Island, New Jersey and NYC it was breathtaking. Knowing that there are so many people just like myself who grew up spending their time on these shores who are heartbroken by the damage, I want to give back and help give back.

Since I had just moved back to the East Coast from Chicago, IL a few days before the Hurricane as a chef I feel responsible to give back to the community. My chef du cuisine Chef Aaron Lhamon got to talking and thought what better way to give back, than by bringing our unique and fine dining style of cooking to Connecticut.

This dinner will be December 10th, 2012 in Milford at Costa Azzurra. The menu is an 8 course preset tasting menu featuring farm to table seasonal items, prepared using modern and classical techniques. Cost of the dinner will be $125 per person. This includes all food and beverage. As well as the dinner there will be a silent auction taking place.

Some of our sponsors for the dinner and auction include, Polyscience, Hudson Valley Foie Gras, Snake River Farms, Secchiaroli Farm, Shun Knives, Korin, Hudson Whiskey, Tuthilltown Spirits, Chef Revival and Eden Farms.

If you would like to attend this event, and/or donate for the cause please contact me at Jbonavitajr@gmail.com or 203-516-8405

Sincerely,
Chef Joseph Bonavita Jr
Chef Aaron Lhamon

This article seems to be nothing more than an anonymous and free infomercial for Staples.Read More "J" posted this same spam "article" on Patch sites in many towns, just changing the name of the town to match the Patch site. That seems to be the spirit of Staples, free-loading in every way they can. Even this "teacher program" has nothing to do with eliminating the need for teachers to spend their own money on school supplies --it is simply a way for that retailer to take advantage of the situation by attracting the lucrative teacher market. Staples should change their name to MADE IN CHINA OFFICE SUPPLIES, as virtually nothing they sell is manufactured in our country.

I agree with Linda and find it perfectly appropriate that Walker appear at a dinner to honorRead More Prescott Bush, financier of the Third Reich! What's wrong with the CEA? Great to see IMTI leading the way into the solar future! I went to that school specifically toRead More become a solar electrician. It was before they had a solar program, at the time it was the E-2 electrical course. I see America has a chance to build prosperity again if we will be forward-looking about our manufacturing and energy strategies. My company, Made In USA Solar LLC, aims to contribute to that in a small way, doing what we can by only installing materials made in USA. Congrats to IMTI on their ambitious solar plans!
