Not an insider, but a man from the west,
brought Tammany to its knees, and New York City to its best!

Fiorello, The Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning musical follows the dynamic political career of Fiorello La Guardia. Elected to Congress in 1916 and 1918, and again from 1922 through 1930 La Guardia served as Mayor of New York for three terms from 1934 to 1945. He was instrumental in bringing down the corrupt Tammany political machine and was a major influence in the making of modern day New York. He is considered by many to be one of the greatest mayors in American history. The musical follows his career beginning in 1915 as a lawyer advocating for the poor and disenfranchised from his small office in Greenwich Village until his election as mayor in 1934. It also tells the story of the two great loves of his life, Thea & Marie - two remarkable women in their own right. The original Broadway production opened at the Broadhurst Theatre in 1959, and is one of only eight musicals that have won the Pultizer Prize for Drama (1960).

Beautiful music & lyrics by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick ('Fiddler On the Roof'), great dance numbers and a superabundance of colorful characters. Don't miss Fiorello at The Gary-the Olivia this summer! Show dates are August 1 through August 11, 2013 at the theater.

* Special group rates are available for 10 or more people (except for the opening night gala performance).  Contact Susan at 860 355-5553; or e-mail boxoffice@thegarytheolivia.com for more information.
