Preview of 'Seussical, Jr.' by Great Oak Middle School

Middle School students will present three performances at Oxford High School.

Local community theatre actress Madalyn Sheehy has appeared in some shows that I have reviewed in the past. She and Doreen Lopez were very funny scrubwomen in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying at Seven Angels. She also was the choreographer for the Oxford High School students in their fine production of the same show.

Ms. Sheehy serves as the drama coach/director for Great Oak Middle School in Oxford. She recently let me know that the school's Drama Club is doing their first musical in five years. The middle school students are currently working very hard at preparing to present one of my favorite shows, Seussical Jr., in early November. "It would be great to have a huge audience - these kids are working hard to make this successful," their proud director told me.

Ms. Sheehy is both directing and choreographing the show and Amy Cote is the Musical Director. Oxford High School has a new class on stage design and the students in the class, along with their teacher Pam Aldrich, are designing the set. This will be the first show they'll be designing in preparation for the high school's spring musical Pippin.

SHOW DATES for Seussical, Jr. are November 8th at 7:00 and 9th at 2:00 pm and 6:00pm and they will be presented at Oxford High School. Tickets are $10, children 5 and under are free.
