Carol Taylor Young, 57

Carol Taylor Young, 57, of The Ella Grasso Group Home and formerly of Watertown, succumbed to pneumonia on Dec. 14, 2013 at Bridgeport Hospital.

Carol was born to the late Philip T and Nancy (MacKay) Young on August 18, 1956 at Waterbury Hospital. She was born with Down Syndrome and after 7 years at home she became a resident at the Southbury Training School followed by Chestnutland Group Home in New Milford until, in 2007, she moved to Ella Grasso Group Home in Stratford.

She leaves her loving and devoted siblings, Mary Young of Medford, MA, Thomas Young of Oxford, CT, James Young of Bridgeport, CT and Ty Young of Richardson, TX. Other surviving family include her nephew, Nicholas Young of Oakland, CA and her niece Norah Young of Orono, ME as well as her step-mother Catherine Young of Victoria BC Canada, her aunt June Young of Moultonboro, NH and aunt Jane Young of Tucson AZ. Numerous cousins and their children also survive her.

A graveside memorial will be held in Springvale, ME this spring.

The Young family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to those employees of CT DDS (previously DMR) who provided such wonderful care for Carol over the decades.
