Obit: Barbara Mary Kennett, 84, of Oxford a Senior Citizen Center Member

Barbara was a 42-year Oxford resident.

Barbara Mary Kennett, 84, of Oxford the beloved wife of  the late Richard D. Kennett  entered into rest peacefully at Danbury Hospital on Sunday, July 6, 2014. Barbara was born in Mt.Vernon, NY on June 11, 1930,  the beloved daughter of the late Edwin J. and Elsie M. Woerber Sweeney. 

Barbara worked as a deli manager for Southford Food Center and then Big Y Supermarket until her retirement. She was a member of the Red Hats Society and the Senior Citizen Center of Oxford. Barbara was an Oxford resident for 42 years. She enjoyed crocheting,  pen and ink and was also an avid reader. Barbara will be sadly missed by her family and friends and will remain forever in our hearts.

Her loving family includes three caring sons Richard Kennett and his wife Jill of WI, Ronald Kennett of Waterbury  and R. Fredrick (Fritz) Kennett and his wife Therese of Oxford, two loving daughters  Rande' Dale of CA. and Robin Powers of NY, eight loving grandchildren Sean Kennett, Ry Klemp, Colleen Chrobak, Nathaniel Powers, Amanda Ravenscroft, Jeremy Kennett, Jacob Kennett and George Kennett, four cherished great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother Edward Sweeney. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday August 16, 2014, at 10:00 am (Directly) at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Rd. Oxford CT.   A Celebration of Barbara's Life will  be held at Jackson's Cove Pavillion, Oxford on Saturday, August 16, 2014 from 3:00-7:00 pm. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
