Obituary: Elmer "Bud" Mead, Jr., 82

Mr. Mead, a retired dairy farmer, leaves two daughters and four grandchildren.

Elmer L. "Bud" Mead, Jr., age 82, a lifelong Seymour resident, entered into peaceful rest March 11, 2013, at his home. He was the beloved husband of the late Flora (Rudenko) Mead.

Mr. Mead was born Oct. 24, 1930, son of the late Elmer L. and Sarah F. (Weed) Mead. He was a retired dairy farmer, and was the owner of the former Mead Farm in Seymour. Bud was a member of the Seymour United Methodist Church, the Farm Bureau, the Oxford Grange, and was a social member of the Great Hill Hose Co.

Elmer leaves his loving family, including two daughters, Susan Mead of Niantic, and Linda Tichy and her husband, Joseph, of Oxford, a sister, Marion St. Julien of Seymour, four grandchildren, Eric and Jason Bryce, and Kaitlin Mead Tichy and Joseph E. Tichy, Jr., and several nieces and nephews. His son, Jeffrey D. Mead, and sisters, Gladys Fogg, and Evelyn and Ruth Mead, predeceased him.

A funeral service in celebration of Bud's life will be Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St., Seymour.
