Obituary: Irma Kopchack, 78

A funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 4 at Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home.

Mrs. Irma L. (Ruggiero) Kopchak, 78, of Naugatuck, formerly of Bridgeport, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Sunday, September 1, 2013.  She was the wife of Ronald P. Kopchak. 

Mrs. Kopchak was born in Bridgeport on July 10, 1935, a daughter of the late Domenic and Cecilia (Zandanella) Ruggiero.  She was a lifelong Bridgeport resident before recently moving to Naugatuck.  She retired from Reed’s Department Store after 20 years of service and also worked for Bridgeport Urology Group.  She was a communicant of St. Michael Church.

Besides her husband of 56 years, she leaves two sons, Richard Ruggiero and his fiancée Laurel Mcstravick of Oxford, Robert Ruggiero and his wife Gabriela of Virginia; her daughter, Carol Work and her husband Wayne of Naugatuck, with whom she made her home; her siblings, Angelina Coon of Southbury, Guido Ruggiero of Bridgeport, Carmella Mazzucco of Long Island, NY, and Donald Ruggiero of Newtown; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her sister, Elvira Bernardo.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 4 at 10:30 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck to St. Michael Church, 25 Maple Avenue, Beacon Falls for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.  Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 1056 Daniels Farm Road, Trumbull.  Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 9-10:30 a.m.  To send an online condolence, please visit www.naugatuckvalleymemorial.com
