Joseph William Norton, a life-long Oxford resident, died on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Birmingham Health Care Center of Derby. He was born on March 20, 1918 in Waterbury, son of the late James and Sarah Howe Norton.
Norton was Plant Superintendent for the former Seymour Manufacturing Company and the Bridgeport Brass Company, and had worked at the plants for many years. He was devoted to his late wife, Elaine Joyce Godshall Norton, enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader. He was an enthusiastic Yankees fan and enjoyed Western stories. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
He is survived by his son, James J. Norton and his wife, Bernadette, of Beacon Falls; his three daughters, Elaine Fiordelisi and her husband, Salvatore, of Shelton, Judy Jo Barbash, and her husband, Michael, of Oxford, and Priscilla Norton of Naugatuck; a sister, Ethel Rallis of Seymour; his eight cherished grandchildren, 17 cherished great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Service and Interment will be private.
