Curiosity: Alien Invasion, Minute to Win It and Breaking Bad on Sunday Night

See what our TV columnist has to say about these shows.

Elissa Bass is on vacation in a place with no cable and no Internet. She will return on Aug. 28.

Curiosity: Alien Invasion – Are We Ready?, 8 p.m., Discovery

I’m filling in for Elissa for this column for awhile, so there might be a little bit of a change in tone. Case in point: this show! Michelle Rodriguez, having experienced in the past couple of years both a hostile human invasion of a peaceful world and a hostile alien invasion of Los Angeles, hosts this special where scientists and military strategists comment on how well we’d do against an ET attack. If the movies are any indication, we’ll be fine since aliens are vulnerable to everything from water to cowboys.

Minute to Win It, 8 p.m., NBC

This is one of those kinds of shows I never watched, but at least would be more amenable to than the interminable reality shows that followed on the heels of Survivor and Big Brother. Tonight, a Tuscon woman and Los Angeles couple compete for big bucks in sixty-second challenges like “Keep the Change” and “Tilt-a-Cup.”

Breaking Bad, 10 p.m., AMC

Mike the Cleaner is taking Jesse out into the desert after calling him a liability? No wonder Walt is worried, though I’m guessing Mike’s plans involve something along the lines of training a successor. Elsewhere, “Skyler has a surprising reunion; Hank gives Det. Roberts bad news.”

Heh, aliens must have invaded Patch also, because while it says here that I wrote this story and that I'm substituting for Elissa, I had absolutely nothing to do with it.

Ah, well, Mr. Singley has fixed whatever caused the aforementioned anomaly. But I have the email to prove alien meddling...
