FASTING BECAUSE OTHERS STARVE
Why would a group of 30 teeneagers voluntarily give up eating--and cell phones--for 30 hours? That's just what the Youth Group (Jackie McDonnell, Coordinator)of christ church Quaker Farms did on March 7 - 8. In so doing, they joined with thousands of other teenagers across the nation is the "30 Hour Famine." During the 30 hours, they studied hunger in South American, while their own tummies growled. Then on March 8, they went door to door through out neighborhoods in Oxford, to solict non perishable food to support the Bridgeport Mission. Some people were intially afraid and suspicious, as the teens came to their front doors. But when those folks heard the teens tell their stories, their fears turned to admiration and generosuity.
Would that we all cared as much about the 'hungry,' as these young people do.
Congratulations, gang, for your outstanding leadership. Thanks be to God.
