Gov Scott Walker is Welcome in Connecticut

To the Editor:

Is anyone else concerned about the political ad in the May 19 Sunday Republican-American placed by the Connecticut Education Association? The ad, under the headline “ Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?” speaks out against our state republican legislators and their invitation to Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker to speak at the Prescott Bush dinner on May 20 in Stamford.

The ad paints Walker as someone who is out of touch and divisive because he stands in defense of the Constitution (something he vowed to do when he took office). Gov. Walker is blocking gun control measures in Wisconsin; this man has the backbone to stand up for our rights and the common sense to recognize that gun control does not prevent a tragedy like Sandy Hook.
The CEA ad erroneously states that most Connecticut residents support gun ‘safety’ a.k.a. ‘control’ legislation. I guess the CEA wasn’t paying attention during the rallies and testimony in Hartford earlier this year where 2A supporters mightily outnumbered the gun grabbers. Walker also triumphed in a recall vote after helping to reduce public employees’ collective bargaining rights, something that gets under the skin of communist, oops, I mean union sympathizers.

The CEA is not an education association. Please look at their website; I was hard pressed to find anything to demonstrate goals of educational excellence. The CEA is a labor movement operating under the ‘for the children’ cloak.

Let’s get the left out of our rights. We need more Scott Walkers to stand with us in defense of our Constitution and the rolling back of government intrusion. It is unfortunate that Connecticut does not have a governor the meets his job requirements and that the Republicans must go out of state for qualified speakers.
