Letter: Oxford Man Thankful for High School Field

Ed Carver thanks the current Board of Selectmen and the Building Committee that worked on the field.

This letter was written by Ed Carver of Oxford and posted by Paul Singley:

I had the distinct pleasure to watch my son, Eddie III, play in a home soccer game under the lights on "Wolverine Field” on his 18th birthday. What a deal! The new athletic field looks incredible.

My compliments to the current administration for building a jewel that performs. On top of it, the budget for the field was 25 percent less than the previous administration's budget for the field project ($3.1 million vs. $4.1 million) and then it came in $75,000 under budget, to top it off.

This past Wednesday, the soccer team played its third game against Brookfield, again under the lights. A parent from the competing team told me how impressed he was with the field and wished his town had such facilities. I recommended that he contact First Selectman George Temple and the Building/Selection Committee.

A special thanks to Board of Selectmen (George Temple, Jeff Haney and Dave McKane) for creating such a venue for our kids to compete on.
