Route 188, or Quaker Farms Road, near its intersection with Wisteria Lane is reopened Friday morning following a crash in which a pickup truck hit a utility pole at 5:35 p.m. Thursday.
The road was closed temporarily Thursday after a man driving a grayish truck drove into a utility pole for unknown reasons; he was laying in the road when emergency crews responded, said Fire Chief Scott Pelletier. He said EMTs were referring to the man's injuries as serious. The man was transported to Waterbury Hospital.
The utility pole was cracked at its base and was haging over the road, Pelletier said. The power wires did not fall.
