Former Oxford Tax Collector Investigation Ongoing

Criminal investigators meet with town officials on Tuesday.

A State Police detective met with Oxford Finance Director James Hliva in Town Hall Tuesday as part of the continuing investigation into former tax collector Karen Guillet, the Valley Independent Sentinel reports.

Hliva characterized the visit as routine; the visits apparently happen every few months as the criminal investigation continues, according to the Sentinel.

Guillet, who served as tax collector for 24 consecutive years, is accused of stealing more than $670,000 from the tax collector's office between 2003 and 2009 before someone in the office blew the whistle. The town has filed a civil lawsuit that is still pending, as is the criminal investigation. Guillet has not been charged criminally; she has admitted to stealing at least $3,092, First Selectman Mary Ann Drayton-Rogers said.

And you've got too much time on your hands responding to an article that was written on June 15; I think you're a little back logged. If you're so curious, why don't you call the First Selectwoman and ask her. Sitting on her hands? Hardly! Constant critic? Any chance you get.

CSI is back and in full campaign mode. I guess his work in Waterbury has settled down.

Anyone with any intelligence whatsoever knows that the Oxford police dept. has no detectives on its rolls and, therefore, the criminal investigation has been taken over by the Major Crime Squad and the State's Attorney. Justice will be served and it will not be because of CSI or George Temple. Plenty of residents and officials have provided information to help with this case. I just may be one of those residents. Why not wait for the outcome CSI or are you just taking advantage of the political season to attack? You have no idea what is going on and you just want to blame any Democrat you can. Stop the blame game and get a life for yourself. Call one of the committee members who put hours into this matter or the Crime Squad to get some facts. They would set you straight if your little mind could comprehend the facts of it at all. Then again, it is probably beyond your reasoning power. You are so blinded by political prejudice that you must spend all your time dreaming up ways to blame others for anything you can. Mom is right. It is so easy to be a critic when you don't know anything,

she should have been arrested for ADMITTING to taking $3000,if anyone walked into the town hall and took $3000 off a desk they would be arrested.arrest her for that and then go on with the case

Like in any criminal investigation. We need to dot every I and cross every T so the the person being investigated has no wiggle room. Patience is needed in an investigation this large and one that encompasses many years. Justice will be served when the state prosecutor has put his entire case together and presented it to a judge for an arrest warrant. Mr. Temple or any one else can not push this along. This is not a political Issue, nor should it become one. LF
