A 16-year-old girl who had been missing for more than 30 hours has been located and is safe.

Megan Darrah was found staying with friends on Spring Street in Naugatuck near the Naugatuck Police Department, says her mother, Kelly Darrah.

Kelly Darrah was thankful to people who helped look for her daughter.

Original Story

The mother of a 16-year-old Naugatuck girl who has been missing since midday Wednesday has one message for daughter:

"I would tell her to come home. It's OK to come home," Kelly Darrah says.

Her daughter, Megan Darrah, left her home on Grove Street around noon on Wednesday and hasn't returned home since. She was angry with her mother because her mother told her to stop climbing in and out of her bedroom window. The girl left saying she was taking a walk, her mother says.

The girl took her backpack, which she usually has with her, but her mother does not know what she had inside.

Megan called her cousin from a phone in Seymour, but her mother still does not have any details about where she is and what she is doing. This is the first time Megan has gone missing, her mother said.

Megan is described as 5-feet, 2-inches tall and about 180 pounds. She has blonde hair and blue eyes and a large birthmark on her shoulder. Her mother said that she always wears her hair up in a clip.

Megan has been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

"She trusts everyone," her mother says.

Kelly Darrah has filed a missing person's report with the Naugatuck Police Department. She says police talked to several of her daughter's friends, but, she adds, they have learned nothing about her whereabouts so far.

Naugatuck police are gathering information to send to media outlets.

If you have information about Megan Darrah's whereabouts, you're encouraged to call 203-518-2673 or Naugatuck Police at 203-729-5222.

Kelly Darrah has posted this announcement about her missing daughter on Patch.
