Oxford Fire Helps to Knock Down Dangerous Brush Fire

Oxford and Southbury firefighters pooled their efforts to knock down a large brush fire that pushed eerily close to a home 622 Jacob Road in Southbury Monday morning.

The fire was at least 100 feet in length and was about the same distance away from a Colonial style home at the address, Southbury Lt. Jason Decremer said. No injuries have been reported. 

The fire was reported after 10 a.m. Monday and officials feared the home was in danger. Dozens of firefighters from Southbury and Oxford, which is close to Jacob Road, responded and knocked down the flames within minutes.

Firefighters from the Sandy Hook section of Newtown also responded to man the fire station on Main Street in Southbury.
