Oxford Man Confronts Dirt Bike Rider

Editor's Note: This article was written by Monroe Patch editor Bill Bittar and posted to Oxford Patch by Paul Singley.

MONROE -- Police received numerous noise complaints about dirt bike riders from residents living by Stevenson Dam. On Aug. 2, police say a 57-year-old Oxford man decided to take matters into his own hands, walking through the woods along the banks of the Housatonic River and confronting several riders at the shore ... gun in hand.

The dirt bike riders reported the incident to the Monroe Police Department and, after an investigation determined the man had a gun in his hand, officers applied for an arrest warrant, according to the report.

Richard Kopf of Roosevelt Drive turned himself in on Sept. 13 on charges of first-degree threatening and breach of peace. He was released on $1,000 bond for a Sept. 20 court date.
