Police Report: Investigation Continues in Accident That Injured Oxford Woman, 88

Woman hit at Brookside Inn.

Police continue to investigate an accident in which an Oxford woman was struck by a car in the parking lot of a local restaurant nearly a week ago.

The 88-year-old woman, Loretta M. Sembrowich, had moderate injuries and may have broken her right hip after a sport utility vehicle that was backing out of a parking space at the  Friday afternoon struck her and knocked her down, police stated in a news release.

The mid-sized SUV, a 2007 Ford Escape, was driven by John Downing, 46, of Seymour.

Oxford Ambulance drove Sembrowich to Griffin Hospital in Derby.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information that may help the investigation can contact state police at Troop A in Southbury at 203.267.2200.
