Updated at 5:58 a.m. Friday

A 40-year-old Oxford man who was missing Tuesday has been found dead, officials confirmed Friday morning.

As of last night, police were still looking for Shawn Quimby, a 40-year-old Oxford man who had been missing since yesterday. Police had bloodhound dogs scouring the Larkin State Bridle Trail.

Quimby was last seen Wednesday morning at his home on Jacks Hill Road in Oxford, officials said. Police say the search of the trail was a first logical step as it's located behind the house. There were no signs of suspicious activity in the area, officials reported.

Oxford Patch will update this story as we get more information.

The world lost a good man. The smile on his face and the bounce in his step will forever live in our memories. There is no one that could ever say a bad word about him. He would give you the shirt off his back and never ask for a thing in return. Shawn will be deeply missed. The world is a sadder place without him in it. My deepest sympathies to Mikey and the entire Quimby family. I love ya Shawny and i will always value our frienship. RIP, Billy.

What caused his death? Was it an accident? So sad. My prayers are with him and his family.

Shawny was an unforgettable person. He was there the day I was born and was the unrelated, over-protective, crazy, hilarious uncle anyone could ever ask for. He could make anyone laugh and lighten the mood of a crowd with just his smile. He will be missed by so many, especially me. Rest In Peace Shawny, I love you more than anything </3
