State police arrested a Monroe woman who tried to stab her boyfriend in the face with a pencil during an argument in Oxford, police said.
Jane Fancy Belanger, 35, of 19 Pastors Walk Drive, was in an argument with her boyfriend in a car when she pulled out a wooden pencil and stabbed him near his eye, just missing it. The man had a minor facial cut and was treated by EMTs but did not require hospitalization after the Wednesday morning incident on Christian Road in Oxford, police stated in a news release.
Belanger was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace, second-degree threatening and second-degree reckless endangerment. She was released on a $10,000 bond and arraigned at Derby Superior Court on Thursday. The case is now awaiting disposition at the courthouse, according to state Judicial Branch records.
