Women Charged in Fight, Robbery, DUI in Police Blotter

Two Seymour women were charged over the weekend after police say they were involved in a fight outside of an Oxford bar on Saturday night.

Police responded to the Dark Horse Saloon at 35 Old State Road No. 3 – in the Pleasant Valley Professional Plaza – at 2 a.m. for a report of a fight in the parking lot.

Police arrested Penny C. Northtrop, 44, and Dawn Slossar, 45, both of 1 Hill St., with breach of peace. They were released on a $500 bond and scheduled to be arraigned at Derby Superior Court on Aug. 6.

A Shelton woman who drove off the side of Chestnut Tree Hill Road Wednesday morning was charged with driving under the influence of drugs/alcohol.

At 2:54 a.m., police responded to a call for a vehicle off the road near 155 Chestnut Tree Hill Road. When they arrived, they found the driver, Jenna DeCarlo, 22, of 14 Gristmill Lane, near the vehicle, police said.

DeCarlo appeared intoxicated, according to a police report, and she was charged after failing a field sobriety test. The report does not indicate whether she took a Breathalyzer test. On top of DUI, she was also charged with drinking while driving.

She was released on a $500 non-surety bond and will be arraigned on Aug. 9 at Derby Superior Court.

Police are searching for a person or people who stole three commercial chainsaws from a vehicle on Palmer Lane in Oxford last week.

Police received a report of the theft on Thursday. The victim also said that someone entered an unlocked shed in the back of the property and stole a gas-powered hedge trimmer.

No property was damaged during the incident.
