A group of Republican town committees in Naugatuck Valley towns are holding a meet-and-greet dinner next week with a number of candidates running for Congress this year.
The Valley GOP, a coalition that was originally was made up of Ansonia, Derby and Seymour Republicans, has now expanded this year to include Naugatuck, Oxford and Shelton.
The group is holding a kickoff dinner at 7 p.m. on March 24, at JJ Sullivan’s Restaurant, 557 Wakelee Ave. in Ansonia. Tickets are $35 to enter, and all the proceeds will to the various town committees.
U.S. Senate candidates Linda McMahon, Chris Shays and Kie Westby have all accepted invitations to the event, and plan to attend, said Dorothy Hoff, the Naugatuck GOP’s town committee chairwoman.
Also, Wayne Winsley, a Naugatuck resident running for the 3rd Congressional District seat, also plans on attending, Hoff said. State House Republican Leader Larry Cafero will serve as the Master of Ceremonies.
“While we hope that the format will be fairly casual and conducive to conversation and networking," Hoff said in an email to Patch. "The candidates will be asked questions about issues that effect the Valley most: jobs, economic development, etc."
