It's time to lace up those hiking boots--it's time to celebrate Connecticut Trails Day!
The Connecticut Forest & Park Association has put together a full weekend of trail-tastic events taking place across the state.
The theme for this year's celebration, which will take place on Saturday, June 2 and Sunday, June 3, is "America's Largest TRAILgating Party."
According to the Connecticut Forest & Park Association's website, 193 enticing events are planned for this weekend, taking place in 121 towns encompassing more than 540 miles of trails.
Here's an event taking place in Naugatuck this weekend:
- Sat., June 2, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Join Elizabeth Buckley and Allan Robertson for a 5.5-mile hike in the Naugatuck State Forest, along the blue-blazed trail. Parking is at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Bethany on Route 42, 1.5 miles west of Route 63.
- Sat., June 2, 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A .5-mile interpretive walk at the Gunntown Passive Park and Nature Preserve on the Oxford and Naugatuck border to learn about the natural history wildlife and ecology of the land.
