It was a fast 25 days since I entered the race for First Selectman as the write-in candidate. Results show over 500 voters wrote my name in.
Of course I am pleased to have offered voters a choice this election. I’m by no means disappointed as we all know that running in this unconventional way is an up hill battle. I was in it to win it and put forth the best effort with the time and resources I had. Those that voted for me were committed and I greatly appreciate their support.
George Temple mentioned his intentions to run for First Selectman nearly one year ago and raised over $17,000. Compare that to me entering the race 25 days ago and raising $2,500. My name did not appear on the ballot and a two step process had to be engaged in order for the vote to count. I put this into perspective to show the dedication and what was accomplished in a short amount of time when you have great, passionate people behind you!
Good luck to Mr. Temple and all those who have been elected to positions they sought.
I am particularly pleased and very proud of Cayenne Spremullo.
This victory was something I wanted to make sure occurred, and it did!
Again, thank you to all --I wish you the best.
