Oxford Budgets Pass by Clean Margins Tuesday

Both budget proposals pass in second referendum.

Oxford voters approved the 2014-15 budget in its second try at referendum, with the education budget passing by 99 votes, 741-642.

The municipal budget passed, as well, with the unofficial tally Tuesday night at 815-566, a margin of 249 votes.

The Board of Finance cut over $1 million from the spending request after both budgets failed in the first referendum on May 13.

The budgets approved Tuesday will result in a 0.48 percent increase to the mill rate, from 24.75 to 24.87.
