Oxford Eye on the Beltway: Lieberman Writes About Fallen Soldier

And, DeLauro speaks about elevating the teaching profession.

BLUMENTHAL: The senator is looking for manufacturers in Connecticut to fill out a survey in order to get a feel for the state of the business.

“We clearly can’t do our jobs without this input, so we hope that you will take a few moments to give us your ideas and perspective about the current state of Connecticut’s manufacturing industry,” he said.

LIEBERMAN: For Memorial Day, the senator wrote about fallen soldier Brian Bill, a Stamford native.

“On this Memorial Day, we remember fallen heroes like Bill — a pantheon of extraordinary American men and women whose service and sacrifice span our history and have, quite literally, made America possible. From the beaches of Normandy to the orchards of Kandahar, from Bunker Hill to Chosin, and from Little Round Top to Sadr City, we owe our liberty and security as a nation to the courageous Americans who never came home from these places, and to those heroes — family and friends, neighbors and strangers — who survived.”

DELAURO: The congresswoman hosted Education Secretary Arne Duncan in New Haven Tuesday for a roundtable  on how to elevate the teaching profession.

"In such a tough economy, with deep and unprecedented cuts in education spending, teachers are being asked to do more with less,” she said. “And economic struggles at home directly impact the children in their classrooms. So it is more important than ever that we make sure we are valuing teachers—by investing in the profession, by compensating them fairly, and by working with them to create the conditions for success in every school across the country. We can start by ensuring teachers’ voices are being heard at policy discussions and debates, such as the one we held today.”

Great to see IMTI leading the way into the solar future! I went to that school specifically toRead More become a solar electrician. It was before they had a solar program, at the time it was the E-2 electrical course. I see America has a chance to build prosperity again if we will be forward-looking about our manufacturing and energy strategies. My company, Made In USA Solar LLC, aims to contribute to that in a small way, doing what we can by only installing materials made in USA. Congrats to IMTI on their ambitious solar plans!

Archie, Your wrong. Constitutions were written for a reason not to determine whether it's a livingRead More document or not. Politicians and or Anti-Americans only believe that the constitutions are a dead document. They are excuses to put forth an agenda. Without Constitutions this country would be chaos and we wouldn't have the freedoms we have today. Only in your eye's does the words not apply because you think government can prevent and do anything they want. It's the people that rule, NOT THE POLITICIANS!

That is looking at the Constitution as a dead piece of paper instead of a living document. LivingRead More Constitutions read as if they were written yesterday not over 250 years ago. Is the Constitution living or dead. When common sense and ordinary circumstances show that the words of the Constitution no longer apply then the document is dead. That is what occurs when weapons/arms have become so powerful and dangerous that having them available in the numbers you have in this country is tantamount to ultimate murder and chaos. This is definitely not what the Framers had in mind as shown by the words prefacing the 2nd amendment referring to a militia.
